Yury Girshovich

Yury Girshovich earned his PhD in Applied Mathematics in 1975 and immediately assumed the professorship role at the Tallinn University of Technology in Estonia.
Between 1981 and 1991, he worked at Schlumburger's CAD/CAM division (Applicon), leading the company effort in creating a Solid and Surface Modeling software library for CAD/CAM. |
Dr. Girshovich left Schlumburger CAD/CAM in 1991 to found Building Block Software, Inc., where he was the original author of its "CAD/CAM Developer's Kit" product line.
In 1996, Dr. Girshovich joined Exa Corporation, one of the leading producers of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software, where he led the company's efforts in Geometric Modeling, Surface Meshing, and Discretization. With his contributions, the company managed to grow significantly and control the CFD market for the automotive industry. Dr. Girshovich left Exa in 2008 to found CAEbridge, LLC.
He published one book and more than 20 research papers on various aspects of Applied Mathematics and Geometric Modeling. He was a key contributor to developing two products that won "CAD/CAM Leader Awards" from the Machine Design Magazine.
